XTS Wallet logoXTS Wallet Version 1 (development)

A wallet for the XRP Ledger from xrpltokenservices.com, for Android phones and tablets.

Version 1 is still in development

  • It works with real XRP on Mainnet. Payments, swaps and escrows are real and can't be undone. Start with small amounts, and keep large amounts somewhere you already trust.
  • Your keys stay on your phone. Nobody, including us, can recover a wallet for you: the paper backup you write down when you create it is the only way back.
  • Private messaging is new. It is end-to-end encrypted with standard methods, but hasn't had an outside security review yet, so don't use it for anything you can't afford to have read.

1. Install and updates

  1. On your phone, open this page (scan the QR code above) and tap Download XTS Wallet.
  2. Open the downloaded file. The first time, Android asks to allow installs from your browser: allow it, go back, and tap Install.
  3. XTS Wallet checks for new versions itself: Settings → Updates shows your version and installs a newer one when there is one.

2. First start: the app passcode

The first time it opens, XTS asks for a passcode for the app (4 to 8 digits). It is needed every time the app opens, and again after it has been in the background for a while (Settings → Auto-lock). You can also unlock with your fingerprint (Settings → Unlock with fingerprint).

Each wallet has its own PIN or password as well, asked for before anything is signed. That way an unlocked phone still can't spend without it.

3. Create a wallet

  1. Tap Create new.
  2. Choose your backup: Secret Numbers (8 rows of 6 digits, each row with a check digit so a typing mistake is caught), a 12-word or a 24-word phrase. All are equally safe; Secret Numbers are the easiest to write down correctly.
  3. Give the wallet a name and choose its PIN or password, then tap Create wallet.
  4. Write the backup on paper, in order. Never in a photo, a screenshot or a cloud note: anyone with it can take everything in the wallet. (Screenshots are blocked on that screen.)
  5. Type back the 3 rows or words XTS asks for, to prove the paper is right.

4. Import a wallet you already have

  1. Tap Import existing and give it a name.
  2. Tap Scan a QR code to scan your backup, or choose what kind it is and type it in: Secret Numbers, a 12- or 24-word phrase, or a seed (one line starting with s).
  3. XTS shows the address the backup opens, and its balance. Check it is the account you expect, then tap This is my wallet and set its PIN or password.

A seed (s…) can open two different accounts: secp256k1, as Xaman and most wallets read it, and Ed25519, as xrpl-py and Python scripts do. If XTS shows two choices, pick the one with the address and balance you know. You can switch later in Settings → the wallet → Key type: nothing moves on the ledger, the app just shows the other account.

5. Activation and the reserve

A new XRP Ledger account only exists once at least 1 XRP has been sent to it. That 1 XRP stays in the account as its reserve, and each token, offer, escrow or other item it holds keeps back another 0.2 XRP. The home screen shows the total, what is Available to spend, and what is Reserved (tap it for the details). Removing an item gives its 0.2 XRP back.

6. Receive XRP

Tap Receive: it shows your address and its QR code to share or copy. With Settings → Payment alerts on, your phone tells you when XRP or a token arrives.

7. Send XRP

  1. Tap Send, then type or paste the address, pick a contact or one of your wallets, or scan a QR code.
  2. Sending to an exchange? Add the destination tag it gave you, or the XRP may not reach your account there. XTS warns you when an address needs one.
  3. Enter the amount, check the review screen, and approve with the wallet's PIN, password or fingerprint.

Payments on the XRP Ledger are final: always check the address.

8. Tokens

  • Add token lets the wallet hold a token (this sets a "trust line" to its issuer and holds back 0.2 XRP of reserve). Only add tokens from issuers you trust.
  • Tap a token to see it, send it, swap it or (for pool tokens) manage your liquidity.
  • The home screen shows roughly what your tokens are worth in XRP and in your currency (Settings → Currency: the phone's own, or US, Australian, Canadian dollars, euros, pounds, yen, Swiss francs or won), using this site's prices.
  • Worth adds it all up for one wallet or all of them: spendable XRP, the reserve, tokens and pool shares. Vanity opens this site's XRPL vanity address picker.
  • Clean-up removes tokens you no longer want and gives back their reserve. A token with a balance left is sent back to its issuer first.

9. Swap and pools

  • Swap trades one token (or XRP) for another, priced live by this site. The slippage setting is how far the price may move before the swap is cancelled rather than filled at a worse rate.
  • You can swap into a token you don't hold yet: XTS adds it for you (0.2 XRP of reserve).
  • Pools lists the XRP Ledger's automated market makers. You can add liquidity (both tokens, or just one), take it out again, vote on a pool's trading fee, or start a new pool.

How a swap fills. It fills straight away at the best price the ledger has, or not at all; it never waits as an open order. The price shown comes from this site, and the ledger itself guarantees you get at least the minimum (the amount less your slippage), or nothing happens and only the tiny network fee is charged.

Adding just one token to a pool works like swapping about half of it into the other token, so the pool's trading fee applies to that half. Adding both tokens in the pool's ratio avoids it.

Fee votes. Anyone holding a pool's LP tokens can vote for its trading fee (0% to 1%). The fee is the average of the top 8 votes, weighted by how many LP tokens each voter holds. When all 8 places are taken, a new vote only counts if its holder's share is bigger than the smallest one there.

10. Escrows

An escrow locks XRP (or a token) until a date and time you choose, for yourself or someone else.

  • Escrows → Lock XRP or a token: pick who it is for, how much, when it can be released, and, if you like, after when it can be cancelled and returned instead.
  • Once the time comes, anyone can release it to the person it is for; xrpltokenservices.com does it automatically.
  • A token can only go into an escrow if its issuer allows it. Few do yet; XTS greys out the ones that can't.
  • Each escrow holds back 0.2 XRP of reserve until it is released or cancelled.

11. Private messages

XTS can send end-to-end encrypted messages and pictures between XRP Ledger wallets. Each one is carried by small XRP Ledger transactions, so each costs a tiny amount of XRP.

  1. Open Messages, choose how the wallet pays (straight from the wallet, or from a separate small messaging wallet you top up), then Switch on messaging.
  2. People write to your normal wallet address. Tap New message to write to theirs, or pick a contact.
  3. The paperclip sends a file, or Take a picture. For pictures you choose Small, Medium or Large, with a preview of each, so you can see how much detail is kept before paying.

Who pays. Either the wallet itself, or a separate small messaging wallet made from the same backup, which you top up with a few XRP (it needs 1 XRP to exist, plus the float it spends). With a messaging wallet, XTS links it to your main wallet both ways on the ledger, so people still write to your normal address and see messages as coming from it. Top-ups show in your activity as Messaging wallet top-up.

Notifications. With the app open, new messages arrive within seconds. With it closed, the phone checks every few minutes and shows a notification with sound, vibration and a pop-up; the lock screen only ever says New message, never who it's from or what it says.

Instant alerts. Switch on Settings → Instant alerts and messages and payments show within seconds even with the app closed. XTS then keeps one quiet connection to its node, so Android shows a small permanent notification, and it asks once to be excused from battery saving. It uses a little battery.

WhatAbout
A text message0.0005 XRP
A small picture0.0075 XRP
A medium picture0.015 XRP
A large pictureup to 0.037 XRP
  • Approving: by default each message asks for the wallet's PIN. With ask once (Messages → settings), it asks once and then signs by itself until the app locks, up to a daily limit you set. Over the limit, it asks again.
  • Deleting a conversation: press and hold it in the list, or tap the bin in the chat.
  • New phone? Messages are sealed to keys that live only on the phone that made them, so they have to be brought over:
    1. Install XTS on the new phone, import the same wallet and switch messaging on there.
    2. On the old phone: Messages → settings → Move messages to a new device.
    3. On the new phone: Messages → settings → Bring keys over and scan the code. With both on the same Wi-Fi (or one on the other's hotspot) everything comes across in one go; it can also go as a file (Quick Share, Bluetooth, USB or email) or as QR codes. The transfer is locked so only a phone with this wallet's backup can open it; delete any file once it's imported.
  • Don't switch messaging off and on to fix a problem. Switching off deletes this phone's reading keys: messages already on their way can then never be read.

Trying it out. In New message, tap Test: XTS echo: it is an account run by xrpltokenservices.com that answers every message (and confirms pictures arrived), so you can see a whole round trip. It isn't private: we can read what is sent to it.

Or test between two wallets, ideally on two phones: switch messaging on for both, send a text one way and a small picture the other. A message shows sent, waiting for the ledger and then confirmed in ledger; on the other phone it arrives within a few seconds while the app is open (or as a notification within a few minutes when it is closed). A picture goes in parts, one about every few seconds, and appears once every part is in.

This replaces the earlier XRPL Message test app, which ran on devnet only. XTS messaging runs on Mainnet: each message is a real (tiny) XRP Ledger payment.

12. Sign in and sign on this website

On xrpltokenservices.com, choose Sign in with XTS Wallet on the login page and approve it in the app: no password needed. When the site asks you to sign something (a swap, a payment), pick Sign with XTS Wallet: the app opens, shows exactly what it is, and asks for your approval.

13. Several wallets and contacts

  • Tap the wallet name at the top of the home screen to switch wallets, create another, or import one.
  • Contacts (the address book) keeps names for addresses you use, and XTS offers to save a new address after you send to it.
  • In Settings, tap a wallet to rename it, change its PIN, password or fingerprint, view its backup, test your paper backup, or remove it from this phone.

14. Keeping it safe

  • Keep your paper backup somewhere safe and private. Never type it into a website or give it to anyone, including "support". We will never ask for it.
  • XTS warns you if the phone looks rooted. Settings → Device check tests this phone's secure key storage and how fast unlocking is; it creates no wallets and doesn't touch the ledger.
  • Check addresses before you send, and be wary of tokens and NFTs you didn't ask for: see Fraud Tracking.

15. If something goes wrong

  • "Not activated yet": the account needs at least 1 XRP sent to it first.
  • "That account hasn't set up messaging": the other wallet hasn't switched messaging on yet, or (if it was switched on before October 2026) its messaging wallet isn't linked: on that phone, Messages shows a Link button that fixes it.
  • A message or picture didn't arrive: in Messages → settings → Diagnostics, tap Send to xrpltokenservices.com on both phones and tell us. It sends counts and public addresses only, never keys or message text.
  • Forgot a wallet's PIN or password? In Settings, tap the wallet and choose I forgot this wallet's password. With your app passcode it removes the wallet from this phone; then import it again from your paper backup and choose a new one.
