What this is drawing

Connections, not payments. Nothing on either chain records where a payment came from, so a globe of payments would have to invent its endpoints.

Thin lines are the XRPL network's real shape: every node that answers a crawl names its own peers, giving thousands of node-to-node links folded into roughly two thousand routes, all of which are drawn — brightest where the most connections run. TX gets points only — its peer lists sit on an RPC port that three nodes out of 528 leave open, so we can show where TX nodes are but not how they connect. The thick arcs are live links held by our own XRPL and TX nodes, weighted by the traffic our node measures on each.

Country is reliable, city is approximate, and anything behind a VPN plots at its exit. Location data by DB-IP (CC BY 4.0); coastlines and borders from Natural Earth (public domain).

Counted from the same crawl the globe is drawing, so these move with it. Host and country come from the offline location database and describe where an address is registered, which is not always where the machine is.
